Winery visits, yes or no? Get all the info!
Temperatures are now hitting summer highs, a number of businesses have timidly reopened, but we still nurture a strong and horrible concern: what are we actually now allowed to do? We will tell you everything you can do in the wine tasting tour sector.

Temperatures are now hitting summer highs, a number of businesses have timidly reopened, but we still nurture a strong and horrible concern: what are we now actually allowed to do?
The fear of facing a fine or putting ourselves in danger is strong.
But, it is also true that this quarantine has got us as taut as arrows on a bow and since May 18, we are ready to be shot forward.
We just need to understand where to aim!
We are not here to decipher the entire Italian Ministerial Decree, but after having talked to numerous winemakers across Italy recently, we are ready to tell you how the wine tasting tour industry will be reopening for business.
Obviously, we all have to follow the rules.
WINERY VISITS
Vineyard visits are permitted but only within the region where you live until June 3.
After this date, you will need to look at the case of every single region, including those that have been hit the hardest by the Coronavirus epidemic and those that were luckier.
There are numerous wineries that have decided to reopen hospitality wine tasting activities and a large number are reopening this weekend.
You may reprise going on wine tasting tours, visits and vineyard walk where this is permitted.
The rules are the same as for all activities open to the public:
- Sanitization of all areas
- Social distancing of at least 1-meter, open-air activities preferred
- If you are going with friends, social distancing is still applicable
- Use of face masks, gloves and sanitizing hand gel
- Control of body temperature
It is true that all this does not sound much fun, but just think about being able to get out into the countryside, enjoying a good glass of wine in the sunshine.
We recommend booking your visit in advance rather than just turning up at the vineyard to avoid gatherings.
WINESHOP
You are also permitted to buy wine directly at the vineyard shop, preferably using cards for electronic payment.
E-commerce sites have shown us how easy and convenient it is to buy wines online, but there is nothing comparable to the magical experience of buying bottles personally at the vineyard or at the winery store.
Once again, just remember you have to respect the rules. But, by now, we know them by heart!
ACTIVITIES IN THE VINEYARD
Many vineyards have recommenced their grape growing activities!
There are some winemakers, like Vigna Cunial, in the Province of Parma, that have found ingenious solutions like organizing vineyard audio tours.
A voice in the headphones suggests exercises while describing the surrounding vineyard scenery.
Less interpersonal contact but maximum interaction with nature!
However, remember that May is an especially critical month from the standpoint of work and vine treatments, which are generally less of an issue at organic vineyards and growers. You should contact vineyard owners to find out whether it is the right time for a visit.
Well, have we or have we not just saved your weekend?
We thank all winemakers that have given us suggestions and information and, in particular, Azienda Agricola Il Dosso, a gem in the Franciacorta area and Vigna Cunial, an organic winemaker in the Emilia region.
Obviously, both are ready and waiting to welcome you!
