It is not an ordinary thing to have the chance to meet such brilliant and courageous minds. We must confess that we’ve been fortunate to meet splendid people in the last few weeks, that have deeply inspired us.
One of those courageous souls is Kurt Wartenweiler, a young Mexican entrepreneur that has been on the frontline of the emerging world phenomenon, the Specialty Coffee revolution.
Thanks to him, the Specialty Coffee phenomenon has slowly awakened the curiosity of a strongly passive and conservative market such as the Mexican.
The well-known British writer and intellectual William Pollard once said “Without change, there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the inevitable change”.
A quote that resounds and reflects Kurt Wartenweiler’s views, where a small change led him to begin a revolution that is still in its early stages.
Kurt’s goal is to create a similar impact like the one Starbucks brought to Mexico in the ’90s. With a “small” change, the American Coffee Giant introduced to a sleeping beauty an elixir called espresso coffee. A drink made with exquisite beans and appropriate brewing machines that replaced the traditional instant coffee, which was the normal way to consume coffee across the country.
In Kurt’s case, what once was simple appliance e-commerce, led him to create a respected specialty coffee brand that now provides services all over the country. From consulting local big companies to even become an admired judge on diverse coffee competitions, Kurt has for sure revolutionized the way how Mexicans consume coffee.
Today we have the honor to present to you a small piece of his work. Kurt’s exclusive coffee cocktails recipes for VINHOOD’s #CoffeeMixologySummerEdition:
