wine event WINE-BATTLE-MONFERRATO-VS-LANGHE

A really hardened Wine Battle about Piedmont. In effect, some of you didn’t take the defeat in the team game very well, ma don’t worry, we are waiting for you during next WineShow for a new challenge!  As always, the prize will be an Alato Magnum spumante!

Now, it’s time to tell you what happened last night!

It was one the most appreciated tasting of ever. By the way, Piedmont doesn’t joke and for every wine from Langhe, there was one by Monferrato that always answered on equal terms for goodness.

What a struggle!

We have also had the pleasure of tasting cheeses by Borgo Affinatori a handmade laboratory of two young boys from Monferrato Astigiano, that have enhanced the level of the evening! Matching fairly the wines was funny!

So, let’s go to the main characters of the evening; we will introduce them one by one:

CHARDONNAY, TENUTA TENAGLIA: A WHITE WINE WITH AN #OUTGOING CHARACTER!

The perfect wine for aperitif and ideal to start the tasting of Chardonnay Tenuta.

Fresh, sapid, not to alcoholic and with delicate scent, combined with a creamy and light taste Robiola Asti, better prepared our palates.

That of Monferrato was the first bite.

#SENSUAL BARBERA D’ASTI RESERVE VS #MAGNETIC BARBERA D’ALBA: AN UNEXPECTED DUEL

At the same time we served you two red wines, without revealing the vine variety of course, but asking to compare them in order to understand the place of origin.

No one guessed…or almost!

Effectively it wasn’t easy to understand it, and Monferrato laid us a trap.

Barbera d’Asti Reserve “Emozioni”, year 2012, of Tenuta Tenaglia, effectively, seemed to come from the heart of Langhe, due to its body and articulated structure. Soft thanks to a passage of 12 months in wood, with a complex and very intensive nose, it has a #Sensual character. This taste helped us understand that as for other places in Piedmont, beside Langhe, they can produce complex wines.

“Emozioni” seduced us for its enchanting taste and its crazy scent, what to say, compliments!

Barbera d’Alba “San Giorgio”, year 2015, by Manera wine cellar, astonished all the red wine lovers that make only steel: hot, it has 16 alcoholic grades, but it is easy to drink thanks to a gritty sourness and a pleasant sapidity.

Langhe counterattacked with this wine of #Magnetic character!

BARBARESCO OF MANERA WINE CELLAR: A #SAGE WINE THAT KNOWS A LOT

The situation is clear: 1-1 ball in the centre.

Langhe haven’t been demoralized going on with the duel. After all they were very sure proposing a  Barbaresco.

Hot, with a distinct tannin and a long period to face in the bottle. A Barbaresco made as it has to be made that left no doubts: 100% #Sage.

LAST BUT NOT LIST: #LIVELY MOSCATO OF MANERA WINE CELLAR

They planned everything from the very beginning. With the strategic refinement of Rommel, Manera Brothers launched the final hardest attack (or the sweetest, it depends from the points of view).

We finished with the tasting, with a real gem, a spumante Moscato d’Asti, very scented, delicately sweet and fairly acid.

For sure the cliché about the fact that only women like sweet wines has been retracted, considering that almost every palate appreciated it!

If this challenge made you thirsty, you just have to participate to next one!
