Wineshow: Sangiovese and his siblings

Finally an evening totally dedicated to one of our favorite vine variety: Sangiovese.

Sangiovese, makes you wonder about a red wine from Tuscany to be drunk with a fiorentina steak. And…what would you think if we tell you that it is used to make fresh and lively white wines? And… that it is cultivated in Emilia Romagna and California? You didn’t know it, didn’t you? For this reason it seemed fundamental to dedicate one evening to it in order to find out all its features.  .

Here what we drunk during the WineShow;

Sangiovese Bianco, Tenuta La Selva

SANGIOVESE IN WHITE… BUT, DOES IT EXIST? YES, IT DOES, AND IT HAS AN #Outgoing CHARACTER!

Among the different companies that love to make experiments with this vine variety, we decided to start with Tenuta la Selva, with its White Sangiovese, discovered during a trip in Tuscany.

It had an #Outgoing character for sure: fresh and properly sapid with a fine scent of freshly picked fruit.

SANGIOVESE DI ROMAGNA VS SANGIOVESE TOSCANO, WHICH WINS BETWEEN #MAGNETIC AND #SENSUAL?

AAAAAA uo uo uo ( to be read with western music and hay-bales in the background).

We compared two red Sangiovese of respect: that Romagnolo di Berti, winner of 3 glasses “Gambero Rosso” and one from Maremma by Tiaso wine cellar, known, quite by accident, at “Bottiglie Aperte”.

We asked you to select the #Character of both wines and more or less you were right:

• #Magnetic, Sangiovese di Romagna: a full-bodied and red wine, fermented in stainless steel; this process gives it a good sourness and a scent of fresh fruit.
•  #Sensual, Tiaso of Tuscany:  it needed a little bit of air to express itself. But, hey! When “it was opened” it left everyone with no words. Even if it hasn’t been awarded with official prizes, it has been defined as the better by everyone during the battle. For this reason we dedicated to him a review!

IN VINHOOD WE ARE #ECCENTRIC LIKE A ROSÈ!

After red wines, we talk about a rosé, Cipria di Berti.

After this statement, a sommelier in one of the part of the world, fell-down died.

We know it! After a red wine you can’t serve a rosé. YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK, NEVER.

Due to the fact that we are #Eccentric, like a rosé. We gave ourselves this luxury and, I say it for those working in the sector, we are all safe and sound. (It’s not the same for the sommelier, he really died). Due to the fact that it was the forth wine to be tasted we dedicated to it a MOODBOARD.

If you don’t know what it is: BAD, VERY BAD.

It means that you have never been in one of our events and you have to remedy.

But we can tell you that participants, who have tasted Il Cipria, would gladly drink it with with the teacher Osho by the pool, with “Circle of the life” by Elton John on the background.

And, effectively, they are not wrong.

 #SAGE SANGIOVESE TO TOP IT OFF 

We finished with the tasting of #Sage Sangiovese by Manuel Pulcini, owner of the namesake company in the province of Lucca.

A full-bodied red wine, with a wild tannin to be domesticated during the time. We have tried it when it was too young. But it shows promises!

The surprise? The producer was there, in anonymity and nobody realized it!

He told us how he began his adventure with wine, facing many difficulties with few money but with many friends always ready to sustain him.
