Summer is the <\/span>perfect moment to share and participate in amazing festivals<\/b>, all around the world, in a unique atmosphere that\u2019s usually enhanced by music, events, and DJ sets, turning the whole experience into one big party. I\u2019m not talking about neighborhood beer festivals, though these too can be fun and perfectly respectable, bur rather <\/span>big events<\/b> that punctuate, like a starry summer night sky, the <\/span>calendar of \u201cunmissable\u201d beer-centric gatherings<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plus, with the heat, which this year has been even more sweltering, <\/span>what\u2019s better than a nice cold and refreshing beer <\/b>(don\u2019t worry, you can have more than one…)<\/span><\/i>? So, whether you\u2019re in the mountains or by the seaside, in Italy or abroad, in Europe or beyond, I have something for everyone, everywhere, in every corner of the globe, in the farthest reaches of the…okay, that\u2019s too far.<\/span><\/p>\n

Behold, the <\/span>10 best beer festivals <\/b>for August 2022!<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh, one more thing. I\u2019ll list them in chronological order, like a kind of agenda, that way you can scroll through them, schedule them, and get your next month of beer-centric fun planned and organized, including your flights!<\/span><\/p>\n

1. BIG GRILL FESTIVAL<\/b><\/h2>\n

August 11-14, 2022<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The Pale <\/span><\/i>of the <\/span>Emerald Isle<\/span><\/i>, or modern-day <\/span>Dublin, is a fantastic city<\/b>, the perfect destination for a long weekend as well as one of the indisputable historic capitals of the brewing world. <\/span>St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral, the bridges crossing the River Liffey, the statues of Oscar Wilde and James Joyce<\/b>, and letting yourself be engulfed by the crowd at Temple Bar, obviously with a beer in hand!<\/span><\/p>\n

It was here that, with the contribution of visionary brewer <\/span>Arthur Guinness<\/b>, an entrepreneur and master of the Dublin Corporation of Brewers (<\/span>perhaps the name rings a bell…<\/span><\/i>), the #Profound character (<\/span>if you don\u2019t know what this is, then hurry and take our <\/span><\/i>Taste Test<\/span><\/i><\/a>!<\/span><\/i>) was born, like <\/span>Stout, Extra Stout, and Foreign Extra Stout<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Big Grill Festival<\/b><\/a> takes place in Ballsbridge, a lively neighborhood in the south of Dublin, in Herbert Park.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 craft breweries from all over Ireland <\/b>participate, giving you the unique opportunity to become familiar with every nuance of Irish beer; <\/span>from small brewers to sacred icons <\/b>like <\/span>O\u2019Hara\u2019s<\/span><\/a> or <\/span>Porterhouse Brew<\/span><\/a>, one of the best producers of Oyster Stout in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

And if you have a few too many and want some outstanding food to help sober you up, no problem!<\/span> 56 stands and food-trucks offering Irish and international cuisine are waiting to help you out.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. LONDON CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL<\/b><\/h2>\n

August 12-13, 2022<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Could <\/span>the Big Smoke<\/span><\/i> possibly host just one summer festival?<\/span><\/p>\n

No, because <\/span>after the <\/b>Great British Beer Festival<\/b><\/a>, August 2-6 (<\/span>I talked about it <\/span><\/i>here<\/span><\/i><\/a>), <\/span><\/i>the party isn\u2019t over, and, less than a week later, the engines are revving with the <\/span>London Craft Beer Festival<\/b><\/a>, <\/span><\/i>in collaboration with the <\/span>Brewers Association<\/b>, from Boulder, Colorado, perhaps <\/span>the most important brewers association in the world <\/b>and the one responsible for the <\/span>craft beer<\/span><\/i> revolution.<\/span><\/p>\n

120 breweries from around the world<\/b> will be coming together at <\/span>Tobacco Dock<\/span><\/a>, the former warehouse for imported tobacco and now the Covent Garden of the East-End, a historic industrial building located in London\u2019s Docklands, built completely from brick and wrought iron, including the vaulted ceilings.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the heavyweights of craft beer, like <\/span>Big Smoke Brew<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Lervig<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Brixton Brewery<\/span><\/a>, to the champions of the \u201c<\/span>old school<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span> tradition, like the Czech <\/span>Budvar<\/span><\/a> or the Belgian <\/span>Chouffe<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Duvel<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets<\/b><\/a> cost \u20ac 215 <\/b>(including drinks) <\/span>for the entire weekend<\/b>, or \u20ac80 for a single entry, either day or evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

To conclude, Greek and Mexican cuisine or BBQ, accompanied by live music and DJ sets.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. BREWSKIVAL<\/b><\/h2>\n

August 12-13, 2022<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

With its centuries-old Norse tradition, from Valhalla to Thor to Berserker, <\/span>Scandinavia <\/b>immediately<\/span> earned a place of honor in the<\/b> world brewing landscape<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Names like <\/span>Mikkeller<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>\u00c6gir<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>To \u00d8l<\/span><\/a>, and the above mentioned <\/span>Lervig<\/span><\/a>, are the standard bearers of Viking \u201ccervogia\u201d. Among these is also <\/span>Brewski<\/span><\/a>, a brewery located in Helsingborg, Scania, Sweden, at the southern border with Denmark.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every year these wizards of Fruit Ale organize their own festival, <\/span>Brewskival<\/b><\/a>, but don\u2019t assume that it\u2019s anything overly self-celebratory.<\/span><\/p>\n

They logistically open their structure to <\/span>120 breweries from all over the world<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Proper <\/span>focus <\/b>is given <\/span>to Scandinavia<\/b>, with the major players from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Iceland, as well as <\/span>breweries from more than 15 nations<\/b>, including Mexico, Croatia, the US, and the UK. The special guest at this year\u2019s edition is <\/span>Varvar Brew<\/b><\/a> from Kiev, Ukraine<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purchase beer tokens for \u20ac3<\/b> and enjoy \u201cghost-day\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next day, August 14th, all you have to do is <\/span>show up with a beer glass from the event and you can participate in a bonus day<\/b>, in which, while supplies last, you can taste all of the leftover beer from the kegs that were opened over the previous two days.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. BARREL & FLOW FEST<\/b><\/h2>\n

August 13-15, 2022<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

This is of the <\/span>most interesting and unique brewing festivals<\/b>, as the goal <\/span>(in addition to having fun)<\/span><\/i> is <\/span>inclusion<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the <\/span>twenty cities in the US where the problem of racism<\/b>, from segregation to inequality, is most acute. It\u2019 s here the <\/span>black community <\/b>organizes the <\/span>Barrel & Flow Fest<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

150 breweries, from all over the United States<\/b>, participate,<\/span> including <\/span>30 owned by African Americans<\/b>, with high caliber icons like <\/span>Brooklyn Brewery<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Samuel Adams<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Four Points Brewing<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The whole thing is accompanied by 7 concerts, obviously featuring <\/span>black music<\/span><\/i>, and 5 DJ sets, which alternate between two stages. The cherry-on-top of this extraordinary festival are the <\/span>collabs-beers, <\/span><\/i>unique and collaborative beers created specifically for the Barrel & Flow Fest <\/b>by two separate breweries cooperating and working together, <\/span>the perfect symbol of unity and integration<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year the festival is expecting 55 such beers, which will <\/span>only be available for tasting here<\/b>, including two highly anticipated <\/span>men\u00e0ge \u00e1 tr\u00f2is<\/span><\/i>: <\/span>The Leaning Cask Brewing Company<\/span><\/a> + <\/span>Social Living<\/span><\/a> + <\/span>Siren of Stout<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Crafted Culture Brewing Company<\/span><\/a> + <\/span>Mack Brewing Co.<\/span><\/a> + <\/span>Liquid Intrusion.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The<\/b> ticket<\/b><\/a> for three days costs \u20ac210 <\/b>or \u20ac85 for a single entry.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. FESTA E BIRR\u00cbS N\u00cb KOR\u00c7\u00cb<\/b><\/h2>\n

August 14-18, 2022<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Kor\u00e7\u00eb is the brewing capital of Albania<\/b>, and, together with Plze\u0148 and Sevastopol, one of the reference points for Eastern European beer.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was here that, in <\/span>1928, an Italian entrepreneur, Umberto Umberti<\/b>, brought beer to the country, <\/span>opening the first brewery, <\/b>Birra Kor\u00e7a<\/b><\/a>, which at the time produced English beer. It was nationalized in 1946 and converted to Czech-German production. Nestled between Lakes Ohrid adn Prespa, the <\/span>Festa e Birr\u00ebs n\u00eb Kor\u00e7\u00eb<\/b><\/a>, with its <\/span>100,000 visitors each year<\/b>, is the <\/span>biggest brewing event in the country<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival takes place in the piazza of the city\u2019s bus terminal: a 4,300 square meter space that, over the course of five days, hosts <\/span>100 concerts and sees 100,000 qofte and 50,000 qebapa <\/b>(traditional meatballs and sausages) <\/span>consumed<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite being conceived and organized by Birra Kor\u00e7a, <\/span>all thirteen of the country\u2019s breweries are present<\/b>, from <\/span>Birra Tirana<\/span><\/a> to <\/span>Birra Stela<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I know, I promised you 10, but don\u2019t worry, <\/span>the others are coming soon<\/span><\/a>. I just want to make sure they each get the attention they deserve.<\/span><\/p>\n
